Digital Spy excitedly presented the first batch of Coronation Street Christmas spoilers at the start of this week.
The gossip came direct from new producer Kate Brooks, who spoke with us and other media at a recent press event on the ITV soap’s set.
The biggest news, of course, centred around Corrie legend Gail as she’ll be bowing out on Christmas Day. Gail is preparing to tie the knot with Jesse Chadwick, but will she get her happily ever after?
Brooks commented: “Whether she goes through with that or not, I cannot say anything! But this is a story with the Platts at the heart of it.
“It’s really festive. Basically, it’s a story about family and how secrets impact and implode on a family. There are a lot of betrayals. Lots of secrets are exposed during this episode and it will be like classic Corrie, with a bit of a twist.”

Emmerdale’s new special episode
Emmerdale fans can look forward to some special flashback scenes later this month, as the show continues to explore Ruby Fox-Miligan’s past.
In a special episode, Steph finds a photo showing Ruby on her 16th birthday. When Ruby seems cagey about the occasion, the action shifts back to 1992 to show viewers what really happened that day.
This is one of two special Emmerdale episodes airing in December. The second will see Tom and Belle’s story come to a head, with an hour-long special featuring the voices of real-life domestic abuse survivors.
