Only six episodes remain in Yellowstone, marking the final chapter of the intense Dutton family drama. As the show nears its conclusion in Season 5, Part 2, the long-standing feud between Beth and Jamie Dutton will finally reach its peak, and it’s clear who will come out on top. The neo-Western series, created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, debuted in June 2018 and has become a huge success. Yellowstone has since sparked a franchise, with two spin-offs already released and three more in development. However, the original story that started it all will wrap up in the remaining episodes of Season 5, Part 2, bringing resolution to Beth and Jamie’s bitter conflict.
In addition to wrapping up the sibling rivalry, the final episodes of Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2, will also address Kevin Costner’s departure as John Dutton III. After the events of the Season 5, Part 1 finale, Costner left the series, leaving creators Sheridan and co. to figure out how to conclude the story without him. Luckily, Yellowstone boasts a rich array of other compelling characters, including Beth and Jamie, whose own storylines are pivotal to the show’s conclusion.
The Dutton Family Feud: Beth vs. Jamie
The Roots of Beth & Jamie’s Hatred
Beth and Jamie have never held back when it comes to expressing their animosity for each other, and the origin of their feud goes all the way back to their teenage years. Beth became pregnant with Rip Wheeler’s child, and Jamie, in an attempt to “help” his sister, took her to an abortion clinic on the Broken Rock reservation. There, a hysterectomy was performed without Beth’s consent, leaving her infertile. The traumatic experience left Beth with an unrelenting hatred for her brother. For Jamie, the resentment also grew, as he never truly felt he belonged within the Dutton family. This painful event cemented their rivalry and set the stage for years of conflict between them on Yellowstone.
