The (possible) end of Yellowstone is near as season 5 heads into its final episodes, and the Yellowstone series
finale will arrive before 2024 comes to a close. Taylor Sheridan’s popular TV show follows the chaotic lives of the
Dutton family, the owners of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, the largest and most powerful ranch in all of Montana.
Throughout the neo-Western drama series, the Duttons fight to maintain control over their land and retain their power, but the lives they choose to live often come with danger and conflict with those who oppose the family.
The Yellowstone season 5, part 2 characters have experienced a lot of death and trauma since its premiere on November 10, 2024. Part 2 of the show’s fifth season began with the death of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton III, the patriarch of the family and the face of the series. John’s murder has driven the plot in all the episodes as his children turn against one another and struggle to maintain their ownership of their family’s land. Unfortunately, the odds of Beth Dutton, Rip Wheeler, and Kayce Dutton keeping full control over the ranch have grown quite slim as the episodes go on.
Yellowstone Has 2 Episodes Left (From 6 Total)
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 Has Released 4 Episodes
Following the premiere of Yellowstone season 5, episode 12, “Counting Coup,” on Sunday, December 1, the Paramount Network TV show only has two episodes remaining. Since season 5 contains 14 episodes total, and part 1 consists of eight episodes, part 2 has six. As of the writing of this article, four out of season 5, part 2’s six episodes have been released, meaning that fans only have two more episodes to look forward to as the show comes to a close (unless the reports about Yellowstone season 6 are true).
Yellowstone season 5, episode 12 featured the death of Colby, one of the original ranch hands. Carter had been cornered by an untamed horse, and when Colby helped Carter escape, the animal fatally kicked and stomped on Colby. His death is the third of season 5, part 2 (after John and Sarah’s murders), suggesting more characters might meet their demise. Elsewhere in episode 12, Rip worked hard to sell as many horses and cattle as possible to save the ranch, and Kayce threatened the assassin Sarah hired to kill John. So, the Duttons are far from being out of the woods.
