Eric Pollard and Brenda Walker’s relationship hit the rocks on Emmerdale as the cryptocurrency storyline intensified.
Eric recently invested a sizable chunk of money in cryptocurrency, though he had ignored several warning signs as the trustworthiness of the site came into question.
Thursday’s (November 28) episode saw Eric discover that his accounts had been emptied, with Leyla watching on as he attempted to rectify the matter by calling the hotline.

This led to disastrous consequences, with Monday’s (December 2) episode beginning as Eric recognised the gravity of the situation as the “special rate” he had been promised bore no rewards.
Brenda, meanwhile, was splurging on a wedding dress after she believed that Eric had come into some money, but was confused after her card – which was linked to her savings account – was declined.
After a call with the bank, Brenda headed to Eric to inform him of the news, though he wasn’t truthful as he lied by saying it was a fault with the bank. Eric’s behaviour also raised suspicion with Liam, who noticed his irresponsibility with the shop’s cash.
Eric explained that he wished to bet a shedload on horse racing, though Liam – as his “doctor and friend” – blocked the exit as he urged Eric to think wisely before making his next decision.

An emotional Eric confided in Liam about the reasons for his impulsive behaviour, with Liam eventually leaving after Eric threatened to call the police. He later bought the dress for Brenda, but faced a difficult conversation as he returned home.
Brenda informed him that she knew Eric had been deceitful, with the bank confirming that there was no technical issue. Eric, despite believing he would soon be rich, told Brenda that he was the one who had withdrawn the money.
Feeling “betrayed” by the incident, Brenda added that she wasn’t sure if she would ever be able to “get over” Eric’s deceit – is it truly over for the couple?…
