Emmerdale‘s Caleb Miligan steps in to play peacemaker between his wife Ruby and father-in-law Anthony next week.
The businessman piles pressure on Ruby as she continues to resent her dad’s presence in the village.
Ruby’s new storyline began earlier this month as her estranged daughter Steph made an unexpected appearance in the Dales.
Although Ruby hoped to get back on better terms with Steph, she quickly became distracted by the arrival of her dad Anthony and gave him a hostile reaction.

This week’s episodes see Anthony inform Steph that he has cancer, leaving her heartbroken.
Steph promises to closely support Anthony, and she also hopes this will help to build bridges between him and Ruby.
In follow-on scenes next week, Ruby speaks with Anthony herself and is shocked to realise that he’s telling the truth about his diagnosis.
As the situation still seems tense, Steph informs Caleb that Ruby and Anthony need to sort things out for the sake of the family.

Ruby tries her best to make Anthony feel welcome at Mill Cottage, but there’s a sense that she’s still holding back as she distances herself from the family.
Anthony spots this himself and confides in Steph about his fears that he’ll never manage to properly reconcile with Ruby.
Steph is given lots to think about when Anthony suggests that she could leave the village to support him away from Ruby’s disapproving gaze.
This concerns Caleb, who begs Ruby to put in more effort with Anthony so they can keep Steph in their lives. What will Ruby do?

Emmerdale bosses announced the casting of Nicholas Day and Georgia Jay as Anthony and Steph earlier this month.
Show producer Sophie Roper commented: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Nicholas and Georgia to Emmerdale as part of the Miligan family. With so much yet to discover about Ruby, the arrival of her father and daughter will unlock her past.
“[We will also] see Ruby and Caleb tested in ways we’ve never seen before. With two actors of such great calibre, they’re certainly set to make their mark on the Dales.”
